Making Sense of NDT Consulting Services
It has been observed that the industries that use NDT Level III services in Houston or any other part of the world have a lot of confusion regarding two important terms – qualification and certification. The meaning of these two words has changed since they were first brought to notice in the 1960s by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) with its first published recommended practice. An employer or an NDT consulting, training, and certification service provider can certify an NDT technician using the guidelines provided by SNT-TC-1A model with proper support from Level III.
SNT-TC-1A documents a clear division between qualification and certification and the things they should involve. Certification is a documented testimony by an employer or NDT service provider declaring that a technician has fulfilled the necessary requirements of experience and training in a particular inspection method. On the other hand, qualification is a combination of organized education, examinations stating that a technician has undergone proper training and adequate experience in a specific inspection method.
The NDT profession is too important to be treated the way it is. Sending technicians who aren’t properly trained, showing that they are adept to perform a particular set of services is too careless on the part of employers. This impacts the integrity of the profession. This is why the role of NDT consulting services can’t be emphasized enough. These are technology driven service providers that deliver path breaking certification, training, inspection, and other NDT related services. One can’t deny the importance of NDT technicians who value their profession and are capable of performing their duties with utmost sincerity and efficiency.
